Realme 6 | Not a Review but more

In a search of performance pack budget smartphone?

This device was launched back in the month of March and sold online via Amazon, Flipkart & on Realme official website.

I was a Xiaomi user from the past 5 years and have tried a budget-oriented Redmi device and brought Realme 6 recently consisting of 4gb RAM and 64gb ROM variant. I got attracted not just because of its 90Hz display refresh rate and 30W VOOC fast charger right in box under ₹15k ($185) but also because of a mid-range SoC MediaTek Helio G90T which is a very good processor but the question is will the combination of this SoC and Realme UI able to give its user a good experience? Let's find out here...

Software Overview:

Realme 6 comes with Realme UI 1.0 & the latest android operating system Android 10 with June security patch (latest B.37 update) and Kernal ver. 4.14.141. I personally feel, Realme UI is immature as it has poor ram management but keeping this aside the user interface is good, I got used to it in a day didn't have any problem finding any setting menu.

There's an official conformation that Realme devices will get the first Android 11 beta updates even realme 6 pro, sharing some of the ss to you guys down below and also don't forget to check rmupdate's latest blog of Android 11 beta updates in Realme x50 Pro.

We will update you guys when the update starts rolling out in India till then follow our blog to stay updated.

90Hz Refresh Rate?

Rm6's display is a 16.5 cm of 2400x1080 Full High Definition Plus (FHD+) resolution IPS panel with a screen-to-body ratio up to 90.5% and cute dot notch at up left corner of the device. Talking about the display here I want to mention a con, if you see your device in direct sunlight with full brightness (turning off battery saver mode), I find the display is not as bright as it should be though everything is clearly visible but again as I say, I didn't find that as bright as it should be.
Note: I've used Redmi Note 8 in direct sunlight, rm6's display is a bit dimmer than that. (NO OFFENCE)
Users can switch the refresh rate from 90Hz to 60Hz manually or leave the settings on Auto select which I really don't recommend when you are outdoors while hanging out with your gang.

As you all can see a note that using a 90Hz refresh rate your battery will be consumed more and eventually your phone will be switched off and your parents will scold you 😂.

Talking about battery backup:

Consisting of a capacity of 4030 mAH I personally found that battery backup is very good though its a variable for every user it depends on their system settings, usage and number of installed applications.

Here I managed to get 10hrs+ screen on time because of the following settings mentioned below:
  1. Dark Theme Mode always on.
  2. Smart Power Saver never turn it off.
  3. Using the device in power saving mode whole time.
  4. By turning off or uninstalling bloatware using ADB cmd it saves battery consumption from bloatware running in the background.
  5. Playing PUBGm for only an hour.
  6. Keeping apps that are essential to use.
  7. Refresh rate only at 60Hz
  8. I don't remember the 8th one 😅.
I wanna add another thing, charging is really quick in here, the very first day I brought the device it charged from 0% to 90% in just 45 minutes. Till 15th day it took time 0% to 90% in 50 minutes and after a month it takes about 65 minutes from 0% to 90%. This issue might be fixed in later updates.

What about the camera?

Well, the only thing I want to say about its camera that this device isn't a camera-centric smartphone despite of consisting 64mp sensor the photos are not well optimized, but I am sure it will be fixed on later updates.
For Gcam users please click here and download the apk file which is still under development, Gcam UI lags a bit so you probably don't like it that way.
NOTE:- Here is the link of the telegram channel for Realme 6 where your questions will be answered.
Final Thoughts:-Realme 6 is really a good device with MTK processor though it heats and have a display con that doesn't matter, I'll recommend this device to all users those who are in a search of performance budget smartphone.
